Bits and Pieces
While I already made a post today, it seemed to grande and vague. I'm not being fair to myself. In fact, I am doing all sorts of little projects constantly. Why just this week I bought a purple shag rug and some purple pillows to complement Izzy's new curtains that are in the works. Now I just need to find time to sew them as it's apparently not a nap friendly project. I've also done a significant amount of research on the amazing and fascinating bumble bee. What a magical creature. I have plans of making a screen print for Z, and a tattoo for me. That's right, you heard it. it's time for a new piece of art for my body. Which if that ain't crafty, I don't know what is.
Stirring the Pot
Things are definitely in the works. While over the course of the last many many months, I've been trying to determine how best to fill the void that expresses who I am with my brief windows of time. Admittedly, most of that time is spent cruising the web, catching up on all the interesting things that other people are doing in search of their bliss. But now as summer approaches, I continue to find more comfort and stability with life in Los Angeles, and a new found discipline to really focus and start seeing some small but monumental goals through 'til the finish.
Unfortunately for me as CFO, CEO and President of this home, my most important duty is to get this stack of short sale paperwork filled out and off of my desk.
But after that... just you wait. I'm finding inspiration in all the right places. Making smaller, daily goals for myself. And most importantly, working on my posture.

The Garden

So while I've decided to boycott sewing for a while, I still have some sewing plans in the works. In the mean time, in honor of my very first real opportunity to attempt something like this, I've planted a garden. Some flowers, lots of herbs, and a good variety of veggies. Our yard is really shady however - which is generally nothing to complain about living in the desert - but it can make it a little more challenging to have a successful garden. So now, we water and wait.

Sewing?!
Yesterday I was finally afforded some time to work on Izzy's outfit. I've been so caught up in real estate that I have neglected my project. Now as I return to it burdened with a long to do list on my desk, I'm feeling less excited and inspired. It's not turning out the way I had hoped and is quickly reminding me why I prefer 2-D over 3-D. It's not fitting her right, and the finishing is more complicated then I had anticipated. Needless to say, I remember now why I like to stick to crafts for the home and minor alterations when it comes to sewing. I think I should be able to finish all but the buttons today and then confidently put her in the Liberty of London dress that I bought at Target for her party. sigh.

Craft Proj. #1
Though the dress has been sitting in this position for a week now, it's on it's way to being finished. I've decided to make some adjustments, and am going to turn it into a top with some knickers for ease in crawling. Also, I've learned that buttons in the back would have made this far more wearable. Live and Learn. It's still cute and will at the very least have a showcase for the birthday party. Then off to the resale shop.

Reseda
The projects have all been put on hold in order to get the house in Reseda ready to rent again. It's been exhausting ~ physically and emotionally. Trying to decide if we should live there, sell it, rent it, how much, when, how fast, ugh. It's a great little house, but I've determined it would be best if it wasn't in our lives. Now it's in print. The decision is made, and I'm not turning back.

Kick Off
i suppose I'm a blogger now. It sounded like a good idea if for nothing more, to have something to check in with. My own personal referee and motivational speaker. I have a lot of ideas, and want to find a way to make at least some of them happen.
To get things started, I'm making a dress for Ms. Izzy. It's the first thing I've sewn for her, and I think it's going to be quite fetching. I'm taking my time, considering the details, and attempting to make a well finished garment. Not only is it a little something special for the one I love, but it's also a prototype and inspiration for what may be a new business.
That's the words. Now for pictures to follow. Thank you new blog friend! I will be seeing you soon.
